Shirley Adams is a financial advisor with Money Concepts Capital Corp. and Chartered Federal Employee Benefit Consultant with Benefit Planning, Inc. (BPI) in Elkhart, Indiana. Since 1990, she has been with BPI, an organization that specializes in federal benefit planning for Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) and Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS) employees. Since joining BPI, Shirley has committed herself to educating and training federal employees to assist them in understanding their federal benefits and retirement systems. She has a full understanding of the various areas that affect the decisions and plans for federal employees in their working and retirement futures.

HISTORY

Shirley and her family relocated to Elkhart, Indiana in 1979, several years into her successful nursing career. A Pennsylvania native, Shirley earned her nursing degree from Butler County Community College in Pennsylvania. In 1980, Shirley transitioned from nursing to sales in the health and life insurance industry. In 1990, she expanded her services to include securities and began branching out into the many other areas that impact an individual’s financial future, including employee benefits, retirement planning, client educational seminars, annuities and alternative investments. Shirley found herself drawn to the federal market because of its complexities and the opportunity to educate a considerable number of people on information critical to their financial well-being.

Shirley is an educator at heart. As a nurse, she educated her patients on their health, and as a financial advisor, she educates clients on their options regarding financial products. Her philosophy is to conduct herself with the utmost integrity at all times and to always help the client make the decisions that are best for them and their families. It is because of Shirley’s selfless outlook, to always do what is best for the client, that she has been able to build her business on word-of-mouth referrals.

Shirley provides educational seminars and training sessions to various government agencies in multiple states across the country. These agencies include the Social Security Administration (SSA), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), Secret Service, Department of Defense, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), United States Postal Service (USPS), U.S. Marshals Service and many other federal agencies.

Shirley possesses an in-depth understanding of the federal benefits system, including Thrift Saving Plan (TSP), Social Security Benefits, Federal Employee Group Life Insurance (FEGLI), CSRS/FERS Annuity calculations, CSRS/FERS Survivor Benefits, sick leave calculations, military buy backs, CSRS Voluntary Contributions and deposits and re-deposits.
